TORONTO, ON – February 10, 2005 – HIPAAT Inc. (HIPAAT), an international provider of technology-based security and privacy solutions, today announced the launch of the ATNA Auditlog ToolkitTM (Toolkit) at the upcoming HIMSS Annual Conference (booth 1653, Security Pavilion) in Dallas, February 13‑17, 2005. The software Toolkit integrates with OEM equipment to generate industry-accepted standard audit messages from proprietary logs. With integration of the Toolkit, Information technology (IT) and imaging administrators benefit from simplified, centralized security auditing capabilities.
“HIPAA’s Security Rule requires healthcare providers to establish audit controls to monitor electronic protected health information (ePHI) network activity,” said Terry Callahan, managing director of HIPAAT. “This is very challenging for administrators, as many healthcare applications and equipment produce audit messages in proprietary format. Recording, searching and reporting on security incidents from incompatible audit logs can be costly and time-consuming. Our Toolkit solves this issue, generating audit logs in a common format for centralized storage.”
Following Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) security guidelines, in particular the Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA) profile, the Toolkit generates Extensible Markup Language (XML) audit content from proprietary vendor logs. The XML messages can then be sent to a central audit repository, and searched and reported upon by administrators.
