TORONTO, ON - November 12, 2004 - HIPAAT Inc. (HIPAAT), an international provider of technology-based privacy and security solutions, today announced the launch of Privacy eSuite, a Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) compliance solution to be exhibited at OHA HealthAchieve2004 (booth 321) in Toronto, November 15-16, 2004. Privacy eSuite is a web-based privacy management system enabling healthcare providers to manage PHIPA‑related issues including consent, requests to access or correct a patient’s personal health information (PHI), and ‘lock box’ restrictions (restrictions patients can impose on the use and disclosure of their PHI).
PHIPA came into effect in Ontario on November 1, 2004. Designed in response to the Act’s requirements, Privacy eSuite provides administrators with a single, secure repository of patients’ privacy-related information, including consent history and PHI disclosure details. It enables administrators to track, search and report on that information for audit purposes, and record and control access to a patient’s lock box restrictions as directed by the patient.
“Caregivers search for ways to simplify compliance and allow patients more control over their PHI,” said Terry Callahan, managing director of HIPAAT. “Privacy eSuite offers a valuable solution. It enables administrators to manage patients’ privacy-related documents and information, track and follow-up on patient requests, and audit privacy efforts to ensure compliance.”
HIPAAT Inc. provides innovative solutions to the healthcare industry’s safety, privacy and security challenges. Offering comprehensive, interoperable, standards-based products, the company enables organizations to effectively safeguard patient health information.
