Access Control

Privacy-related access control enforces the personal health information (PHI) privacy policies established by patients/consumers, organizations and jurisdictions.

HIPAAT’s centralized, interoperable, standards-based solution:

moves the burden of privacy-related access decisions from clinical applications to centralized, privacy-specialized Web services

consistently enforces policies network-wide in real time by allowing or denying access to PHI across disparate applications

has virtually no impact on clinical workflow, allowing authorized individuals to immediately access PHI

permits override (‘break the glass’) access to restricted PHI, where appropriate

alerts the audit service when override has been activated.
